Over at Deep South Daily they ask this question. What would folks like Mike Huckabee be saying about Duggar if he had come out as gay rather than as a child molester?
“I never believed that in such a short period of time, the culture in America would go into utter collapse,” Huckabee said. “If you had told me just a few years ago that one day the President of the United States would use his precious time in the Oval Office to call people up simply to congratulate them for being gay, I would say, ‘No, surely he’ll call a veteran and thank them for their service, for losing a limb or leg.'”
If TLC possessed one ounce of genuine compassion instead of the ersatz kind that exalts what should be condemned, they would be meeting privately with Josh Duggar to urge him in the strongest possible terms to pursue reparative therapy in the hopes of saving his life
Are these real quotes?
Yes, but they aren’t about Josh Duggar and TLC. Only the italicized parts were changed. These quotes are about Michael Sam, the first openly gay football player in NFL history.
The blog cuts deeply into the hypocrisy of these "Christian" shysters:
According to Huckabee, when Michael Sam came out it was a sign that the culture was in “utter collapse.” But when it came out that the Duggars had covered up the fact that their oldest son had repeatedly molested his younger sisters? “No purpose whatsoever is served by those who are now trying to discredit Josh or his family by sensationalizing this story.”
The American Family Association’s Bryan Fischer also came to the Duggars’ defense. Instead of calling for Duggar to seek reparative therapy for his sexual deviancy, Fischer compared him to the biblical kings Solomon and David, and said he believes that “every indication is that his repentance for those deeds was sincere, and there has been no hint of sexual impropriety on his part in the intervening 13 years.”
And ultimately hits the nail on the head:
And that’s why Josh Duggar’s “coming out” is infinitely more forgivable than Michael Sam’s coming out. Michael Sam loving another man is a threat to Christian patriarchy. Josh Duggar molesting young girls is not.
